Brahin meteorite pallasite. Excellent slice02/11/2021
Pallasites are considered by many to be the most beautiful type of meteorite. They are thought to originate at the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids, where the metallic core meets the lighter rocks. They were then shattered to space through another meteorite impact until they fell on Earth. Due to their inner beauty, some of them are used as jewelry or decoration when they are cut in 2 halves or sliced.
Admire pallasite was first discovered in 1881 in Lyon County, Kansas, USA. It is one of the most beautiful pallasites due to the intricate shapes of its olivines that scatter through the iron matrix in different sizes. It is a must-have in every meteorite collection.
